Billionaire Elon Musk has promised to give away $1 million every day until the presidential election among voters in Pennsylvania who sign his petition in defense of the First and Second Amendments to the US Constitution.

He announced this at a campaign event in Pennsylvania in support of Republican Donald Trump, The Hill reports.

The petition was published on the website of the America PAC committee founded by Musk, which is engaged in supporting Trump. It asks voters to support the First and Second Amendments to the US Constitution. The goal of the petition is to "get a million registered voters in swing states to sign their names in support of the Constitution's provisions regarding free speech and the right to bear arms," The New York Times notes.

"One of the challenges we have is, how do we get the word out about this petition? Because traditional media doesn't want to report it. You know, not everyone follows [me on social media] X. So I thought, how do we get the word out? I think it's going to create a real buzz," Musk said.

The billionaire then picked out a member of the audience and handed him a check for a million dollars.

The Hill notes that Musk had previously promised to pay voters in swing states $47 for signing a petition. For Pennsylvania residents, he increased this amount to $100, NBC News recalls.

As The New York Times emphasizes, federal law makes it a crime to pay to vote or register to vote. However, paying voters to sign a petition is not considered a violation of the law in the United States. The newspaper also suggested that those who sign the petition could become targets for America PAC to campaign for Trump.

The US presidential election will be held on November 5. Pennsylvania is one of the most important states for Donald Trump and his Democratic rival Kamala Harris in the presidential race.

On October 16, Musk announced that he would be holding a “lecture series” throughout Pennsylvania over the next few days. Admission will be free, but to participate, you must sign a petition on the America PAC website.

According to America PAC’s reporting, Elon Musk has donated $75 million to this committee. Bloomberg noted that by donating such an amount, Musk became one of the largest donors to the Republican presidential candidate.
