On August 24, 2025, Australia saw its largest-ever pro-Palestinian demonstrations, with an estimated 300,000 people participating in rallies across the country. The protests were organized to demand an end to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to call for sanctions against Israel. In Sydney alone, organizers claimed that over 100,000 individuals marched, though police estimates were significantly lower. The demonstrations have placed additional strain on the Australian government's foreign policy, which has already been under scrutiny following its recognition of a Palestinian state earlier this month.
