Canada's Prime Minister Carney Visits Ukraine, Pledges Military Support

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made his inaugural visit to Ukraine on August 24, 2025, to mark the country's Independence Day. During his trip, Carney announced a C$1.5 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which includes drones, armored vehicles, and electronic warfare equipment. He also expressed Canada's willingness to consider deploying peacekeeping troops as part of a future international security agreement. The announcement was made alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, where both leaders signed a drone co-production agreement. Carney emphasized Canada's steadfast support for Ukraine in the face of ongoing Russian aggression.
