Stocks Tumble as Tariff Ruling Adds Legal and Market Pressure

Markets stumbled as a federal appeals court largely struck down President Trump’s reciprocal tariffs, unsettling traders with policy unpredictability. The ruling cast a shadow over revenue forecasts and added fuel to concerns over widening fiscal deficits. All three major U.S. indexes—the S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq—posted losses between 0.6 % and 0.8 %, dragged lower by former megacap outperformers. Bond yields and gold both climbed, signaling investor shift toward lower-risk assets. With upcoming economic data and Fed policy decisions on the horizon, volatility is expected to persist.
