Azerbaijan’s official currency is the Azerbaijani manat, written as AZN. It was introduced in its modern form in 2006, replacing the old manat at a big revaluation. The banknotes are super stylish, showing architecture, culture, and national pride. Locals mostly use cash for small purchases, though cards are widely accepted in Baku and major cities. The manat is divided into 100 qəpik, but coins aren’t used that much. The currency’s value is managed carefully by the national bank to stay stable. The manat really reflects Azerbaijan’s mix of oil wealth and modern ambition.
