Bolivia uses the Boliviano, written as BOB. It’s been the country’s currency since 1987, when it replaced the old peso after major inflation. The Boliviano has stayed pretty stable since then, backed by Bolivia’s growing economy. The banknotes show indigenous leaders, national heroes, and the country’s beautiful landscapes. Cash is common everywhere, but ATMs and cards work fine in cities like La Paz and Santa Cruz. U.S. dollars are also accepted in some tourist areas. The Boliviano is a proud symbol of Bolivia’s mix of tradition, culture, and progress.
