Costa Rica’s currency is the Costa Rican colón, written as CRC. It’s named after Christopher Columbus, whose name in Spanish is Cristóbal Colón. The bills are bright and colorful, showing local wildlife, rainforests, and famous Costa Ricans. Cash is still common, but cards are accepted almost everywhere, especially in tourist areas. U.S. dollars are also widely used, and prices are sometimes listed in both currencies. The colón’s value shifts a bit, but the economy stays stable overall. It’s a currency that perfectly matches Costa Rica’s friendly and eco-focused vibe.
