Denmark uses the Danish krone, written as DKK. Even though Denmark is in the EU, it has kept its own currency instead of adopting the euro. The krone is divided into 100 øre, though coins are mostly used for small amounts. Banknotes are colorful and feature famous Danes and iconic landmarks. Cash is still used in shops and markets, but cards and mobile payments are very common. The krone is stable, backed by Denmark’s strong economy. It’s a proud symbol of Danish independence and financial strength.
