What currency is used in Gabon?

Gabon uses the Central African CFA franc, written as XAF. This currency is shared with several neighboring countries in Central Africa. The CFA franc is pegged to the euro, which keeps it stable and predictable. Cash is still the main way to pay, especially in markets and smaller towns. Banknotes feature African art, wildlife, and local leaders. ATMs and banks are mostly available in the capital, Libreville. The CFA franc helps Gabon trade easily with its regional partners.
