Georgia uses the Georgian lari, written as GEL. The lari has been the country’s currency since 1995. Banknotes feature important national figures, landmarks, and cultural symbols. Cash is widely used, though cards and mobile payments are increasingly common in Tbilisi and other cities. The lari’s value is managed by the National Bank of Georgia to keep it stable. ATMs and currency exchange offices are easy to find. The lari reflects Georgia’s independence and growing economy.
