The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is Sarajevo. It’s a scenic city surrounded by mountains and famous for its mix of cultures and religions. Ottoman mosques, Austro-Hungarian buildings, and modern cafes sit side by side, showing its layered history. Sarajevo is known as the place where East meets West, both in architecture and lifestyle. The city also has deep historical significance, from the assassination that sparked World War I to the 1990s siege. Locals are welcoming, and the food—like cevapi and burek—is hearty and delicious. The old town, called Baščaršija, is a must-see with its cobblestone streets and market stalls.
