The capital of Brazil is Brasília. It was built in the late 1950s to promote development in the country’s interior and is known for its futuristic architecture. The city was designed in the shape of an airplane, with government buildings along the “wings” and “body.” Brasília is clean, spacious, and organized, with wide avenues and modern monuments. It’s home to Brazil’s main political institutions and a growing population of professionals and students. The climate is warm but less humid than coastal cities. Visitors come to admire the city’s unique layout and the creative designs of architect Oscar Niemeyer.
