The official language in Estonia is Estonian. It’s closely related to Finnish and sounds very musical to foreign ears. Most Estonians also speak English, especially in cities and tourist areas. Russian is still common among older generations and in certain regions. The language uses the Latin alphabet and is quite logical once you get used to it. Learning a few Estonian phrases can make your trip more enjoyable and appreciated by locals. The language is a strong part of Estonia’s national pride and identity.
