The official language of Uzbekistan is Uzbek. It’s a Turkic language written in the Latin alphabet and spoken by the majority of the population. Russian is also widely understood, especially in business and among older generations. In some regions, Tajik and other minority languages are spoken. English is becoming more popular in schools and tourism. Most people in Uzbekistan are bilingual, speaking Uzbek and Russian fluently. The language is a key part of national pride and connects the country’s modern life with its Silk Road heritage.
