The official language of Venezuela is Spanish. It’s spoken by nearly everyone and used in schools, government, and the media. Indigenous languages like Wayuu, Pemon, and Warao are also spoken by smaller groups and recognized by the government. English is taught in schools and used in tourism and business. Venezuelan Spanish is known for its fast, rhythmic sound and lively expressions. Most people are monolingual in Spanish but understand some English. The country’s language reflects its mix of Indigenous, African, and European roots.
