Djibouti has a population of around 1.2 million people. The country’s location at the Horn of Africa makes it a hub for trade and migration. Most residents live in or around the capital, also called Djibouti City. The population is young and growing, with a mix of Somali and Afar ethnic groups. Immigration from neighboring countries adds to the diversity of the small nation. Urban growth has been rapid due to job opportunities in ports and logistics. Overall, Djibouti’s population is compact but expanding, driven by its strategic and economic importance.
