East Timor, also known as Timor-Leste, has a population of about 1.4 million people. The population has been growing steadily since independence, driven by high birth rates. Most people live in rural areas and rely on agriculture for their livelihoods. Dili, the capital, is the main urban center and continues to expand. The population is young, with a large portion under 25 years old. Healthcare and education are improving, but rural communities still face challenges. Overall, East Timor’s growing and youthful population holds great promise for the country’s future.
