Equatorial Guinea has a population of around 1.6 million people. Most people live on the islands of Bioko and Annobón, with Malabo as the capital. The population is young and growing, with high birth rates across the country. Urban areas are expanding as oil wealth and government investment create opportunities. Rural communities continue to rely on agriculture and traditional livelihoods. Despite its small size, the population is ethnically and culturally diverse.
