Vatican City has a population of about 800 people. It’s the smallest country in the world, both in size and population. Most residents are clergy, including the Pope, cardinals, and Swiss Guards. Growth is minimal, with very few permanent citizens aside from religious officials. Urbanization is complete, with the entire population living within Vatican walls. The population is highly specialized and focused on religious and administrative functions. Overall, Vatican City has an extremely small, unique, and highly specialized population.
