Uganda is generally safe for travelers and well-known for its friendly people and wildlife adventures. Most visits go smoothly, though petty theft and bag-snatching can happen in crowded areas. The countryside and national parks are calm and secure with guided tours. Border regions with South Sudan and the DRC should be avoided due to occasional unrest. Roads can be busy, so cautious driving or hiring local drivers is best. Police presence is visible in major towns and tourist spots. With normal care, Uganda is a safe and rewarding destination for visitors.
