Iraq is primarily known for exporting crude oil, which makes up the vast majority of its national income. The country also produces and ships petroleum products from its refineries. Dates are another well-known export, with Iraqi varieties considered some of the best in the world. Small amounts of chemicals, fertilizers, and construction materials also reach regional markets. Iraq is working to revive its agriculture sector, though most production stays domestic. The nation has potential in natural gas exports as well.
