What kind of education did James Buchanan have?

Buchanan was one of the more educated presidents of the early 1800s, studying at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. Even though he got in trouble a few times, he turned things around and graduated with honors. After college, he studied law and quickly built a strong legal career. People who knew him said he was smart, polished, and always well-prepared. His education made him one of the top young lawyers in the state. This academic background helped him get into politics fairly easily. It gave him a reputation for being sharp and knowledgeable, even if he sometimes overthought things.
