What was Harrison’s personal life like?

Harrison married Anna Tuthill Symmes, and together they had a very large family with ten children. His wife wasn’t able to travel with him to Washington for the inauguration because of health issues. People who knew him said he was friendly, polite, and had a steady personality despite his intense career. His family lived mostly in Ohio, where he built a home called Grouseland, which still stands today. He enjoyed farming and quiet domestic life when he wasn’t in military or political service. Harrison often leaned on his family for emotional support during long periods away. His personal life was much more stable than his dramatic political timeline.
