How did John F. Kennedy first get into politics?

JFK jumped into politics almost by accident after his older brother died in World War II. His dad basically redirected the family's political hopes onto him. He won a seat in Congress in his twenties and quickly stood out as someone thoughtful but also very media-friendly. He wasn’t the loudest politician, but he had a calm, cool style people liked. His speeches and TV presence made him a rising star. When he got to the Senate, he became known for tackling foreign policy issues. All that momentum made his run for president feel like the next natural step.
