Before becoming president, Obama lived a pretty normal life for a lawyer and community organiser. He worked at a civil-rights law firm and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago. Obama met Michelle at the law firm, and their relationship grew pretty quickly from there. They lived in Chicago, raised their kids, and were well-known locally before becoming national figures. Friends said he was thoughtful but funny and genuinely liked helping people. He lived modestly compared to later political leaders. His early personal life makes a lot of fans say he stayed authentic while rising in politics.
