Besides music, Louis Armstrong loved writing letters, collecting jokes, and hanging out with friends. He was surprisingly into home recordings and made tons of tapes just for fun. Cooking was another thing he enjoyed, especially Southern dishes that reminded him of home. He even loved tinkering with gadgets and kept stacks of reel-to-reel tapes. His personality was playful, curious, and warm. Even with the spotlight on him, he found joy in everyday things. Those hobbies made his life feel balanced.
