Dylan began playing guitar and harmonica as a teenager. He formed several high school bands that played rock ’n’ roll and cover songs. He later discovered folk and blues, which pushed him toward more storytelling-style songwriting. In 1960, he moved to New York City to visit Woody Guthrie and explore the Greenwich Village folk scene. That move changed everything and led him to a deal with Columbia Records. From there, his career skyrocketed fast.
