Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning British monarch, born on April 21, 1926. She came from the House of Windsor and grew up in a world changed by World War II. As a young princess she didn’t expect to be queen so early, but her uncle abdicated and her father became King George VI. That twist shaped her entire life. She took the throne in 1952 at just 25 years old. She ruled for over 70 years and was known for calm leadership and a strong sense of duty.
