Aretha won 18 Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award. She was the first woman ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. She also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005, the highest civilian award in the U.S. Many of her songs are in the Library of Congress and are treated as cultural treasures. Even a Grammy category — Best Female R&B Vocal Performance — practically became hers, winning it eight years in a row. Museums, music schools, and radio shows constantly honour her legacy. There are very few artists with a résumé like hers.
