Why did JD Vance decide to run for the U.S. Senate?

Vance says he ran because he felt the country was leaving behind working-class families like the ones he knew growing up. He argues that politicians talk too much and don’t fix real issues like manufacturing decline, drug addiction, and bad economic policy. After years in business and writing, he wanted to get directly involved in shaping laws. He joined the Republican Party and embraced a populist style. Many voters saw him as someone who understood their struggles first-hand. In 2022, he won the Senate seat from Ohio. For supporters, he’s the “success story who didn’t forget where he came from.”
