A lot of people first saw Drake in the TV show “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” where he played Jimmy Brooks. He wasn’t rapping on the show, but he was already writing music behind the scenes. Around 2006–2009, he dropped early mixtapes like “Room for Improvement” and “So Far Gone,” which blew up online. “Best I Ever Had” hit like a rocket and caught the attention of Lil Wayne. That link with Young Money Records turned him from an actor with talent into a rap superstar. After that, he never really looked back.
