Lionel Messi was born on June 24, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina, and he grew up in a tight family surrounded by football passion. He started playing as a little kid on dusty local fields, usually against boys much older than him. People say he was so small that everyone underestimated him, until he dribbled past them all. Messi joined Newell’s Old Boys youth team, where he scored ridiculous amounts of goals. When doctors diagnosed him with a growth hormone condition, his family struggled to pay treatments. Barcelona stepped in and offered to support him if he moved to Spain. That moment basically changed football history forever.
