Keanu had a fairly unconventional childhood with lots of moving and different schools. He played ice hockey seriously as a kid and considered it as a career for a while. Keanu got into theatre in high school and started appearing in local productions and TV spots. After high school he kept pursuing acting, landing small roles and gradually building his résumé. He worked odd jobs while trying to break into film, which taught him grit and patience. That slow climb helped him stay grounded once he hit bigger success. His early life shaped both his work ethic and his preference for privacy.
