Volodymyr Zelensky was born on January 25, 1978, in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. At the time, Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union. He grew up in a Russian-speaking Jewish family. His hometown is an industrial city known for mining and steel. Zelensky spent part of his childhood living abroad while his father worked overseas. He later returned to Ukraine for school and university. His early environment shaped his adaptability.
