Mission Dolores, officially known as Mission San Francisco de Asís, is one of the oldest buildings in San Francisco. It was founded way back in 1776 and has a huge role in the city’s early history. It’s part of the original Spanish missions built across California. People visit it because it’s basically a window into how San Francisco started. The church building itself has survived earthquakes and major changes in the city around it. Inside, you can still feel that old, calm atmosphere that’s pretty rare in a big city. It’s also famous for its cemetery and historic artwork that tell stories from centuries ago.
