Howard Frankland Bridge has gone through major expansion work to improve traffic capacity. New bridge sections have been built to separate directions of traffic and add more lanes. The goal of these projects is to reduce congestion and make commuting smoother across the bay. During construction phases, drivers often experienced lane shifts and temporary slowdowns. Once completed sections open, traffic tends to improve compared to older configurations. These upgrades are part of long-term infrastructure planning for the Tampa Bay region. Even with improvements, it remains one of the busiest corridors in the area.
