Marcio Freire, known as Mad Dog, dies in Portugal

Marcio Freire, also known as "Mad Dog," was a professional surfer from Brazil who was active in the 1980s and 1990s.


He was known for his aggressive style and impressive surfing abilities. Freire competed in a number of professional surf contests and won several titles throughout his career. He was also known for his involvement in the development of the Brazilian surf industry and his efforts to promote surfing in Brazil.

Marcio Freire died on January 6, 2022, riding huge waves in Nazaré, Portugal.
