Craighead County is located in the Upper Delta region of Arkansas. This well known county is named after Thomas Craighead (1798-1862), a state senator who ironically opposed the creation of the county. The county seats of Craighead County are Jonesboro and Lake City. The county's area is about 713 square miles. Founded on February 19, 1859, today Craighead County is home to 112 thousand residents.
