Lancaster, California is a city located in the Antelope Valley region of Los Angeles County. The area was originally inhabited by the Paiute tribe and the first European settlers arrived in the area in the late 1700s. The city was officially founded in 1876 and was named for Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

In the early 1900s, Lancaster experienced significant growth and development as a result of the arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad and the establishment of the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. During World War II, the city played an important role in the war effort, with the establishment of a number of military bases and training facilities in the area.

After the war, Lancaster continued to grow and expand, with an emphasis on agriculture, manufacturing and aerospace industry. In the 1960s and 1970s, Lancaster experienced a population boom, as many people moved to the area to take advantage of the affordable housing and the job opportunities in the aerospace industry.

Today, Lancaster is a diverse and growing city known for its proximity to Edwards Air Force Base, its thriving aerospace industry, and its beautiful natural scenery.

It is also known for its renewable energy resources, Lancaster was the first city in the United States to require solar panels on all new homes built in the city.
