DeKalb County is situated in the suburban zone of Chicago, Illinois. This wonderful county was named after Johann de Kalb (1721–1780), German soldier in the Continental Army. The area of DeKalb County is about 631 square miles. The county, created in 1837, is populated today by 100 thousand residents. Sycamore is the county seat of DeKalb County.
