Aransas County is located in the southeastern coastal part of Texas. This wonderful county is named after Aransas Bay, named in turn for an early Spanish fort; this support was supposedly named in turn for a Spanish palace Aránzazu, from Sanctuario de Aránzazu (place of thorns). The county seat of Aransas County is Rockport. The county's area is estimated at 252 square miles. Founded in 1871, today Aransas County is home to 25 thousand residents.
