History of Arlington, Texas: when Arlington was founded and how it developed.

USA / Texas / Arlington

The area that is now Arlington was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Caddo and the Comanche. The first Europeans to arrive in the area were Spanish explorers, who established a mission in the area in the late 1700s.

Arlington was founded in the mid-1800s and was named after General Robert E. Lee's Arlington House plantation, which was located in Arlington, Virginia. The city was originally a small agricultural community, but it grew rapidly in the 20th century, thanks to its strategic location in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

In recent years, Arlington has become a major hub for sports and entertainment, with a number of major sports venues, such as AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) and Globe Life Field (home of the Texas Rangers) being located in the city. The city is also home to a number of major amusement parks, such as Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor.
