What kind of wildlife lives in and around Phoenix?

Surprisingly, there's a lot of wildlife around Phoenix, especially in the desert areas and mountain preserves. You might see coyotes, roadrunners, rabbits, javelinas (they look like wild pigs), and lots of lizards. Rattlesnakes and scorpions live here too, but you’re unlikely to bump into them unless you're hiking off-trail or flipping rocks. Birds are everywhere — including hawks, hummingbirds, and even owls. It's a desert ecosystem, but it’s very much alive and full of cool creatures!
