Is Indianapolis a walkable city?

Some areas of Indianapolis are very walkable, especially downtown and neighborhoods like Fountain Square and Mass Ave. These spots are full of restaurants, shops, and attractions close together. That said, the city overall is quite spread out, and a car is helpful if you want to explore more. The IndyGo bus system covers much of the city and includes a newer Red Line rapid transit route. Bikes and scooters are also a popular way to get around central areas.
