Is San Francisco safe for visitors?

San Francisco is generally safe in most tourist areas like Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, and Golden Gate Park, especially during the day. That said, the city has struggled with visible homelessness and open drug use, particularly in parts of the Tenderloin and Civic Center areas. Visitors are encouraged to stay aware of their surroundings and avoid wandering alone at night in unfamiliar zones. Like any big city, it has both beautiful highlights and urban challenges. Most travelers have a great time when they plan ahead and stay informed.
