Jericho’s location in a fertile oasis in the Jordan Valley has made it an attractive settlement for thousands of years. Its access to water from nearby springs supported agriculture and trade, sustaining large populations. The surrounding desert and mountainous terrain offered natural protection but also posed challenges. Jericho’s position along ancient trade routes connected it with Egypt, Mesopotamia, and other civilizations. This geographic advantage helped it flourish as a cultural and economic center throughout history.
