Blenheim Palace is the only non-royal residence in the UK to be titled a palace. It was a gift from Queen Anne to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, for his victory at the Battle of Blenheim. Sir Winston Churchill was born there in 1874. The palace boasts over 187 rooms and is set in 2,000 acres of parkland. It is a masterpiece of English Baroque architecture. Blenheim has served as a film location for movies like James Bond and Harry Potter. The palace and park were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
