Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest mountain at 3,776 meters. It's a stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707. Fuji is considered a sacred site in Shinto religion. The climbing season is limited to July and August. There are more than 200,000 climbers annually. It appears almost perfectly symmetrical and is a national symbol of Japan. It has inspired countless works of art, including Hokusai’s famous prints. On clear days, it can be seen from Tokyo over 100 km away.
