MLB Poised for Major Broadcast Shake-Up

Reports suggest NBC is closing in on a $600 million, three-year deal to air “Sunday Night Baseball,” bringing more marquee MLB coverage to Peacock and traditional TV. The agreement could also include limited rights to playoff games, enhancing NBC’s sports portfolio. Concurrently, MLB and ESPN are nearing a deal for exclusive digital rights to out-of-market games—potentially folding MLB.tv into ESPN’s platform. There are even early whispers that Netflix might secure streaming rights to the Home Run Derby. Meanwhile, Apple TV+ appears increasingly likely to relinquish its Friday Night Baseball slot, potentially benefiting Peacock and ESPN further.
