Gatwick Airport began operations as a commercial airport in 1933. Originally a small airfield, it expanded during World War II for military use and later returned to civilian aviation. Over the decades, Gatwick has grown into one of the busiest airports in the United Kingdom. Modernization projects have updated its terminals and runways to handle increasing passenger traffic. Today, Gatwick serves tens of millions of passengers annually and continues to expand its facilities.
